Margaret Noodin est une poétesse, enseignante et traductrice qui s’intéresse à la diversité et à la résilience de l’humanité dans le contexte d’un univers complexe, vivant et en constante évolution. Son travail va de la revitalisation et de la pédagogie des langues à la création de nouvelles histoires, chansons et poèmes en ojibwemowin, gaeilge et français. Elle écrit souvent sur le travail de maintien des liens avec les ancêtres par la prière et le chant.
Margaret est actuellement instructrice Ojibwemowin pour la Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa et vit près de la réserve le long des rives du lac Supérieur dans le nord-est du Minnesota. Elle est également professeure à l’Université du Wisconsin-Milwaukee où elle enseigne l’ojibwemowin, l’écriture créative et la littérature irlandaise.
Elle est l’auteure de Bawaajimo : A Dialect of Dreams in Anishinaabe Language and Literature et de deux recueils de poésie en anishinaabemowin et en anglais : Weweni et What the Chickadee Knows. Elle a traduit plus de 30 livres pour enfants en ojibwé et continue d’être l’une des rédactrices de www.ojibwe.net
Margaret a obtenu un MFA en écriture créative et un doctorat en anglais et linguistique à l’Université du Minnesota, puis a été professeure d’anglais et doyenne associée des sciences humaines à l’Université du Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Margaret Noodin is a poet, teacher and translator interested in the diversity and resilience of humanity in the context of a complex, living, and ever-changing universe. Her work ranges from language revitalization and pedagogy to the creation of new stories, songs and poems in Ojibwemowin, Gaeilge and French. She often writes about the work of maintaining connections to ancestors through prayer and song.
Margaret is currently Ojibwemowin Instructor for the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and lives near the reservation along the shores of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota. She also is faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she teaches Ojibwemowin, creative writing and Irish literature.
She is the author of Bawaajimo: A Dialect of Dreams in Anishinaabe Language and Literature and two collections of poetry in Anishinaabemowin and English: Weweni and What the Chickadee Knows. She has translated over 30 books for children into Ojibwe and continues to serve as one of the editors of www.ojibwe.net
Margaret received an MFA in Creative Writing and a PhD in English and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota and served for a time as a Professor of English and Associate Dean of the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
