Paula MENDES-COELHO Comparatiste de formation (Master en Études Littéraires Comparées; Docteur en Études Françaises, spécialité Littérature Comparée), a été professeur du Département d´Humanités, Universidade Aberta-Lisboa, où elle a coordonné le Master en Études Comparées-Littérature et Arts. Chercheur integré du CEC (Centre d´Études Comparatistes de la Fac. de Letras, Univ. de Lisboa) ; collaborateur du IELT-CEIL (FCSH, Univ.Nova-Lisboa). Domaines de recherche : Littérature comparée XIX-XXIe siècles (lusophone; francophone); Symbolisme français et belge ; les oeuvres de Fernando Pessoa, de Maria Gabriela Llansol…Auteur de Questões de poética simbolista-do Romantismo à Modernidade, FCG/FCT2006, d´articles et essais dans le domaine des Etudes Comparées. Orientation scientifique de master, doct, post-doc.). Enseignement (Master ) et Activités dans le cadre de la ”Promotion de la Lecture Littéraire”. Membre de Juris/Prix Littéraires (PEN Portugais; Associação Portuguesa de Escritores–APE). Vice-présidente de l´Associação Portuguesa dos Críticos Literários- APCL.

Paula Mendes-Coelho is a scholar of comparative literature. She holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literary Studies and a PhD in French Studies, specialising in Comparative Literature.
She taught in the Department of Humanities at Universidade Aberta in Lisbon, where she coordinated the Master’s programme in Comparative Studies – Literature and the Arts. She is a researcher at the Centre for Comparative Studies (CEC) of the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, and a collaborating researcher at IELT-CEIL, NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University Lisbon.
Her research focuses on comparative literature from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries, particularly Lusophone and Francophone literatures; French and Belgian Symbolism; and the works of Fernando Pessoa and Maria Gabriela Llansol, among others.
She is the author of *Questões de poética simbolista: do Romantismo à Modernidade* (FCG/FCT, 2006), as well as numerous articles and essays in the field of Comparative Studies. She has supervised Master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral research, taught at Master’s level, and led activities promoting literary reading.
She has served on literary prize juries for Portuguese PEN and the Portuguese Writers’ Association (APE). She is Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Literary Critics (APCL).
