ABOUT
Zenon Fajfer, Polish poet, playwright, creator and theoretician of liberature (Pol. liberatura, 1999), a new literary genre which embraces works that integrate the word with unconventional shapes of the book. He introduced into poetry an original, interactive form called “the emanational poem,” in which he simultaneously creates invisible dimensions of text. He also uses the new media, creating his own version of kinetic poems and hypertextual poetry, and presents his poetry as performances. He co-authored, together with Katarzyna Bazarnik, a poetic happening Liberty Poem, first performed in 2011 in New York, then presented in Chicago, Taipei, Tokyo, Vienna, Venice, Brussels, Krakow, Trivandrum, and other cities. Zenon Fajfer, poète, dramaturge, créateur et théoricien polonais de la liberature (Pol. liberatura, 1999), nouveau genre littéraire qui englobe des œuvres intégrant le mot aux formes non conventionnelles du livre. Il introduit dans la poésie une forme originale et interactive appelée “le poème éméniaque,” dans laquelle il crée simultanément des dimensions invisibles de texte. Il utilise également les nouveaux médias, créant sa propre version de poèmes cinétiques et de poésie hypertextuelle, et présente ses poèmes sous forme de performances. Il est le coauteur, avec Katarzyna Bazarnik, d’un happening poétique Liberty Poem, qui a été interprété pour la première fois en 2011 à New York, puis présenté à Chicago, Taipei, Tokyo, Vienne, Venise, Bruxelles, Cracovie, Trivandrum et dans d’autres villes.

Katarzyna Bazarnik, literary scholar, professor at the Institute of English Philology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, editor, translator, and occasionally a poet, co-author, with Zenon Fajfer, of the first books to be called liberature: a triple-volume Oka-leczenie (Mute-I-Late, prototype edition 2000, 1st ed. 2009) and (O)patrzenie (Ga(u)ze, 2003). Together with Zenon Fajfer, she wrote and performs a poetic happening Liberty Poem. She has published Liberature. A Book-bound Genre (2016) and co-edited Refresh the Book. On the Hybrid Nature of the Book in the Age of Electronic Publishing (2021). Her translation of B.S Johnson’s novel The Unfortunates was awarded at the Wrocław Good Books Fair in 2008. She has recently translated Glen Calleja’s collection of poems Outstaring Truth into Polish.
