Manuel de Queiroz est né à Porto et vit à Lisbonne. Romancier, architecte et urbaniste, il a participé activement à plusieurs instances dirigeantes de l’Association des architectes portugais et de l’Ordre des architectes. Il a également été élu membre du Bureau exécutif du Conseil des architectes d’Europe.
Il est membre de l’Association portugaise des écrivains (APE) et du PEN Club portugais, où il a siégé au conseil d’administration entre 2012 et 2014.
Son roman O Dedo na Ferida (Le Doigt sur la plaie, Editorial Caminho, Lisbonne, 2001) a reçu en 2002 le Prix du premier roman du PEN Club portugais.
Son deuxième roman, Os Passos da Glória (Bertrand Editora, Lisbonne, 2008), a été finaliste du prix Fernando Namora en 2009. En 2013, il a bénéficié d’une aide à la traduction en anglais dans le cadre du programme de traduction Gregory Rabassa de la FLAD -Fondation luso-américaine pour le développement. Ce même roman a été publié aux États-Unis en 2021 par Pleasure Boat Studio, à Seattle, sous le titre My Art and My Stetson.
En 2024, un nouveau roman, O Lado Negro do Vermelho (Le Côté obscur du rouge), a été publié par la Poets & Dragons Society, à Lisbonne.

Manuel de Queiroz was born in Porto and lives in Lisbon. He is a novelist, an architect and urban planner. He actively participated in several governing bodies of the Portuguese Architects Association / Order of Architects, having been elected member of the Executive Board of the Architects’ Council of Europe. He is a member of the Portuguese Writers Association (APE), of the Portuguese PEN Club, where he served on the board between 2012 and 2014. His novel, O Dedo na Ferida (The Finger on the Spot, Editorial Caminho, Lisbon 2001) won the 2002 Portuguese PEN Club Award for First Novel. His second novel Os Passos da Glória (Bertrand Editora, Lisbon, 2008) was selected for the 2009 Fernando Namora Award shortlist and in 2013 won a subvention for translation do English under the FLAD (Luso American Foundation) Gregory Rabassa Translation Program. In 2021, this same novel was published in the USA (Pleasure Boat Studio, Seattle) under the title My Art and My Stetson. In 2024 a new novel, O Lado Negro do Vermelho (The Dark Side of the Red), was published by the Poets & Dragons Society, Lisbon.
