L’expression artistique de Mahnaz Badihian a commencé à un jeune âge, à l’école primaire, en écrivant des poèmes et des nouvelles et en peignant avec le matériel disponible. La vie l’a emmenée à travers de nombreuses expériences différentes, telles que l’école d’infirmière, l’école dentaire, l’école d’art, la révolution, l’immigration et la maternité, mais elle est toujours restée une poétesse et une artiste. Depuis 20 ans, sa vie est entièrement consacrée à l’art et à la littérature. Elle a publié de nombreux poèmes et traduit des livres en persan et en anglais, dont Saplings Arise avec Jack Hirschman. Mahnaz expose son art à l’international depuis des décennies, plus récemment avec une exposition solo en 2018 à San Francisco, en Californie, à la Live Worms Gallery. Son dernier recueil de poèmes, Raven of Isfahan, a été publié en 2019 avec un succès critique. Mme Badihian a terminé sa maîtrise en poésie en 2007 à la Pacific University, dans l’Oregon. Ses poèmes ont été publiés dans plus de vingt anthologies internationales. En 2020, Mahnaz a édité et publié 300 pages de poésie et d’art sur la COVID-19 du monde entier dans un recueil intitulé Plague 2020. Elle a de nombreux recueils de poèmes en farsi et en anglais. En 2022. Sa collection en anglais Ask The Wind, a été publiée par Vagabond, et en 2023, sa collection en farsi, The Woman Who Go to Bed with Their Lover With My Heart; elle était membre actif de la brigade des poètes révolutionnaires à San Francisco. Mahnaz Badihian’s artistic expression started at a young age in elementary school by writing poetry and short stories and painting with whatever material was available. Life took her through many different experiences, such as Nursing school, Dental school, art school, revolution, immigration, and motherhood, but she always remained a poet and artist. For 20 years, her life has been entirely dedicated to art and literature. She has published many poems and translated books in Persian and English, including Saplings Arise with Jack Hirschman. Mahnaz has been exhibiting her art internationally for decades, most recently with a solo exhibition in 2018 in San Francisco, California, at Live Worms Gallery. Her latest collection of poems, Raven of Isfahan, was published in 2019 to critical acclaim. Badihian finished her MFA in Poetry in 2007 from Pacific University in Oregon. Her poems appeared in more than twenty international anthologies. In 2020, Mahnaz edited and published 300 pages of COVID-19 poetry and art from around the world in a collection entitled Plague 2020. She has many collections of poems in Farsi and English. In 2022, Her English Language collection of poems, Ask The Wind, was published by Vagabond, and in 2023, her Farsi collection, The Woman Who Go to Bed with Their Lover With My Heart; she was an active member of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade in San Francisco. Member of PEN, acting member of the World Festival of Poetry. Her novel A Girl from the Pomegranate Garden will be published in 2025.

under the thunder of fear and doubt
We kissed
on the streets of diasporas
on the roads of despair
in the city of the devil
We kissed so much
that our lips joined the eternity
under all the beliefs
under fire and blood
under executioner’s sword
under distorted news
We kissed quietly
our kisses had a different color every day
Sad kisses
love kisses
kisses of excitement
kisses of fear
kisses of death
friendship kisses
our kisses were talking
when they silenced our voices
and our lips became our safe heaven!
